Storytelling: Sharing Our Lessons Learned with Others
This series of videos will share with you lessons that I have learned about how to share what I have learned with other educators. I chose to use the phrase “Lessons Learned” since it is more universally understood. I could have used the more formal phrase, “Publishing Scholarship”, but it may have resulted in too many educators saying that they were not qualified, did not have ‘scholarship’ to share, or something like that. The two terms mean essentially the same. The main difference is how formal is the means to communicate with others. We all have important stories to share with others.
There are many places to share what we have learned on how to support our students and see them succeed. The most common is talking with a colleague at a meeting during a meal or in the hallways at conference events. This video series will build on what you are already sharing informally with others. We all have important stories to tell. The stories are not about ourselves. They are about our students and helping them to succeed. Keep in mind that all the strategies that I will share in this video series are simply to reach one more educator. Reaching them and sharing a good idea can influence them and perhaps increase the success of their students. That is what I think about. Just reach one more person.
